The design draws significantly from the building’s façade, establishing a strong visual dialogue between exterior and interior elements. The façade’s distinct rhythm and geometric patterns are subtly reinterpreted within the interior through features such as partitioning, glazing, and detailed floor layouts. This approach transforms external architectural characteristics into interior frameworks and finishes, creating a unified design language that enriches the overall architectural narrative and strengthens the cohesion between the building’s internal and external expressions.

To strengthen the connection between the building’s architecture and its interior design, we drew inspiration from the materials used in the Pulman Building—particularly the York handmade brick. The unique irregularities in the brickwork not only shape the building’s exterior identity but also inform key interior features, such as the Teapoint Island. By echoing the textures and patterns of the brick facade, the island design establishes a visual and material continuity, creating a harmonious dialogue between the interior and exterior spaces.

The design of the glazing and partition system draws inspiration from the distinctive window elements of the Pulman Building. By echoing the proportions, grid patterns, and framing details of the windows, the system creates a unique aesthetic that feels intrinsically connected to the building’s architectural roots. This approach not only pays homage to the structure’s foundations but also enhances its character by blending heritage-inspired design with modern functionality. The result is a visually cohesive design that celebrates the building’s legacy while supporting contemporary use.
